Starting a new chapter in life can be quite overwhelming, especially when you and the people around you have high expectations from yourself. An initial and most contributing factor to stress would be the confusion about choosing the right field of education. The thoughts and doubts about making a decision about a career which would secure our future is something we all go through in different phases of life. There will be times when you will reconsider your decision based on some circumstances, talk to your professors and seek academic guidance as soon the thought arises.
We all love the grandiosity in Dubai and the diversity it offers us, but you will agree to the fact that there’s no other place as comforting as our home. Being away from our comfort zone, missing our family, friends and the easy life will definitely affect our peace of mind. Homesickness doesn’t mean that you’re being sensitive, accept the feelings of missing people and being emotional about remembering them. Try to be in contact with friends and family back home, and simultaneously socialize here to make new friends.
Making new friends could be challenging if you are an introvert or someone who is not used to talking to people beyond their usual groups. Fear of being accepted or judged by your peers also stops you from opening up to people. The best way to deal with the situation would be to start slow and observe people around you to get to know them better. Make small conversations, try to get involved in the activities planned in the university and so on.
Managing time, trying to cope up with classes, understanding your course, dealing with stress and anxiety, constantly doubting your abilities and decisions are all a part of student life.
